| Jimmy Coates: Killer | Jimmy Coates: Survival | Special Agents - Deep End |
This is the 2nd in the Jimmy Coates series and my son is hooked. Has all the elements that boys love (adventure, a little danger etc). I think it would probably be suited to slightly older (11/12 yr) children because some of the content is a little sophisticated (my son would strongly disagree).
This is the sequel to JIMMY COATES: ASSASSIN?

I had a little trouble wrapping my imagination around a main character who was a robot but also 38 percent human, and who was programmed to be a killing machine. However, Jimmy is a very compelling character, especially when his human side takes over and decides to do the right thing.

The harsh government of Great Britain in Jimmy's era is a cruel dictatorship known as NJ7. Jimmy belongs to them, but then he joins forces with the opposition government. NJ7 realizes that Jimmy knows enough to be a serious problem to them, so they send another robot boy to kill him.

Joe Craig has an incredible imagination and he really puts it to the test in this exciting and innovative thriller. It is filled with high-octane chases and hair-raising escapes that kept me reading into the early morning hours. The personal inner conflict that Jimmy has between his human and robot sides is gripping. He desperately wants to just be a normal boy, but has to deal with the fact that he was created by NJ7 to kill.

I can't wait for the next installment of this great sci-fi/fantasy/action-adventure series.

Reviewed by: Grandma Bev
This book is even more amazing than the first installment. The action starts from the first chapter and barely lets up until the final page. Jimmy is maturing and developing his special skills, his friends are stepping up to the challenge and NG7 are just as nasty as ever. I don't want to give the plot away so I won't say any more. I recommend this book highly as both a kids book and an adult read. Can't wait for the next installment!!
This book is one that you cannot put down. It is so gripping. Even if you haven't read the first Jimmy Coates book it doesn't matter you can still read this one and it will make sense but this one is even better than the first one.
Because of this book Jimmy Coates is better than Cherub and they are both better than Alex Rider.I hope you like this book as much as I did. I cannot wait to read the next Jimmy Coates book Jimmy Coates: REVENGE!!!
I read the review of this in The Times that praised it to the sky, so I thought I'd try it out for my two sons, 10 and 13.
What can I say except - I'm now the most popular Dad in the World, and they're begging me for the other Jimmy Coates book.
Once I'd also read this book, I understood why. It goes at such an amazing pace that it puts even most computer games in the shade. But what most impressed me was that it's not just about action scene after action scene. There's a real depth to this story and the characters that I haven't come across in other books for the same age group, certainly not in other action books.
Jimmy Coates is a fascinating character facing a crisis in his personality that asks a lot about the basics of human nature. It's quite an achievement for a book to grip two boys aged ten and thirteen AND get their old Dad thinking about things he's never thought about before.
I can't wait to read the first Jimmy Coates book, and here's hoping there will be many many more in the series.
